Carrie Mashinter, BAA, RN, MA-Ed

What is your role in the company?

I am co-founder of Triple E and I have the pleasure of working closely with my daughter, Carling to create meaningful and timely workshops for women who are as curious about themselves and their world as we are. I am a Registered Nurse and I just recently retired from a 22-year career as a college professor. Before I became a nurse, I studied journalism, received a degree in photographic arts and I worked as a newspaper journalist and photographer. I am also a past president of the Barrie unit of the Canadian Cancer Society, I have volunteered for Helping Hands in Orillia and for the North York General Hospital.

What are you passionate about?

I am very passionate about being a part of women’s journeys/transitions in life and I view this opportunity to accompany women as they grow and transition, as being quite a privilege. Over the years, I have witnessed my students overcoming incredible odds and challenges in their quest to become nurses and this has really confirmed my belief in how powerful women are and how they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.

What is your claim to fame?

I am often referred to as the “Flannel Queen”, so I am going to assume that is my claim to fame. If I had it my way, not only would I sleep in flannel (nightie and sheets), but I would go to work in flannel also. Oh, who am I kidding, as I write this, I am in my finest flannel, so clearly, my dream of working in flannel has come true! There is just something very cosy and warm about flannel that has become ingrained and I think it is even a genetic thing, as my mother and her mother before her, were big flannel fanatics.

What are your hobbies/fun time stuff?

Nature is my jam and the more I can get out into it and be a part of it the better. I also do some sporty things like badminton and pickleball.

What is your role in the company?

I co-founded Triple E with my amazing mother. We discovered that we have the same values of knowledge, strength, and vulnerability. I am a Registered Psychotherapist who has been supporting people for over six years. My values align with inclusivity, feminism and the importance of understanding. I love to support relationships in navigating concerns and building connection.

What are you passionate about?

For fun, I love to do improv and nap with my cuddle puppy, Gertrude. My favourite place on earth is my cottage where I get to feed chipmunks, watch sunsets and enjoy nature.

What is your claim to fame?

Well when I was younger, I could do the worm and actually won a talent show doing it. However now, I discovered that I can blink while closing just my eyelid, no upper cheek movement….I show everyone.
